Our team

Derwin Massey has been a journeyman carpenter since 1979, having spent his time in his early career life getting his ticket and construction experience. After marrying Judy he settled into a career in grain farming and seed production; both have benefited from Derwin’s construction experience. As well, he has built his own home and several others in Central Alberta, and in territory ranging from Edmonton to Interior British Columbia. Derwin currently advises the company on business strategy, and is a director and officer of Echo Ridge Homes Inc.

Mark Bradford comes from a family of builders. His father, a journeyman carpenter, passed on his skills to Mark and he has in the last several years been actively involved in construction as a project manager with Echo Ridge Homes. Mark has also constructed his own home in Stettler. He has renovated a number of homes which he has sold or currently holds as revenue property. Mark is a shareholder and director in Echo Ridge.

Merle Layden also started early in life in the building trade; the first spec home he built was in 1980, but before that he extensively renovated two residences. After leaving his farming career in 1989, Merle obtained his MBA from the University of Calgary. In 1992 Merle and a partner formed a company in Cochrane Alberta that oversaw the development and construction of a multi-million dollar condo project, as well as new home and light industrial construction in and around the Cochrane area. Merle is President and a director of Echo Ridge Homes, and is involved hands-on in the construction. He also provides business and financial direction to the company.
